Orangutan

– Conservation status: Critically endangered.

– Population: There are two species of orangutans, the Sumatran orangutan and the Bornean orangutan. Both species are critically endangered due to deforestation and habitat degradation, the population is estimated at approximately 130,000 orangutans.

– Scientific name: Pongo abelii (Sumatran orangutan), Pongo pygmaeus (Bornean orangutan).

– Height: Between 1.1-1.5 meters

– Weight: Males: 50-90 kg, females: 30-50 kg

– Length: 1.2-1.5 meters

– Habitat: Tropical rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo.
